Writing Assignment 2/28

1. What things interest you about the subject you photographed?
- Well I did candy and there are a few things that I like about my subject. For one candy is very delicious:] I like the thoughts that come to mind when I think of candy. Also I really like the colors, they are always very bright and colorful. Plus even though I didnt post them all I used different candies that had different textures so the contrast in the smooth and roughness was interesting.
2. Evaluate how well your compositions help the viewer see what interested you
- well I played with symmetry and try to draw the viewers eye around the pictures. Also I tried and make sure that there was always alot of colors in the pictures because that is one of the things that I really liked. I think that I did a pretty good job with getting what I liked about the candy out in my pictures

Second Place

"BEYOND 9/11: PORTRAITS OF RESILIENCE"
This was the third picture in his portrait series that won second place. I really enjoy portraits and I find this one has a really strong appearance. 9/11 is something that hits home for me and is something that is ingrained in me so the photographers subject to me was interesting.

writting assignment 2/14

ways to draw the views eye-
one would be to set what ever you want the main subject to be in a scene or setting with contrasting color. Like the apple against a white wall or in a more neutral color setting. Another way is you could put it in a place that it is the only odd thing out. Like all oranges and then an apple- the apple is what would draw the viewers eye. Another is the placement in the composition of your photo. One common area of focus for the viewers eye is in the middle but if there is an area that is greatly different or has more going on that will also draw their eye. Another way is having only one major subject. What I mean by that is if you want the apple to be the main focus and you have it in a picture with a kid and bright colors and alot of other interesting things the focus will not be mainly on the apple where are you put it with object that are less likely to draw interest it will stay the focus.

assignment- being photographed

1. Yes, I felt extremely uncomfortable. I have always been the one to rather behind the camera than in front of it.i guess I just feel awkward when I am being photographed I don't know where to look or what to do and it makes me nervous. For me there wasn't really a shift that made me any more comfortable this time. I think for me it has been years and years of me feeling this way so it isn't going to change like that.
2. I know when I was photographing Dustin we had a few things we did so it wasn't so weird. The first was the tv was on and for the motion ones we had him playing basketball on the wii so he had something else to focus on. For the posed on since i was shifting him away from the tv all the time we played his music. Besides that we just talked a lot and I told him what looked good in a picture and what didn't. I guess I just kept him filled in with what I was doing/trying and what I liked.

assignment 1

This is a photo by Lotte Jacobi. 10 adjectives- peaceful, water scene, calming, warm, recognition(Albert Einstein!), there is a couple at the end of the dock(little above the center of the picture), sail boat facing the photographer(to the right), small ripples in the water, high water life greenery on either side of the dock possible cattails,  the dock is straight and older with one railing to the left and a very small piece of a branch hangs slightly down into the top left side.

10 abjectives- Family, olden times, happy, formal clothes, excitement, bright lighting, reminds me of a reunion of sorts, they are the center of the picture and the picture is cropped with a little room around them, back round looks like a run down city to me, one building with a crack in the side of it, there is a wicker chair to the left, they are standing on dirt I believe.

These are both by Lotte Jacbob and I got them from her book, Lotte Jacob
